The project's main objective is to map air pollution concentration in Brno, including primary climatic conditions, through temporary mobile and stationary measurements. The monitoring was carried out to determine the concentrations of pollutants and the prevailing type of pollution, including identifying its sources. Subsequently, an Action Plan for improving air quality in Brno was prepared with proposals for relevant measures to reduce pollution or mitigate its consequences.
The project's primary purpose is a detailed mapping of the immission load of substances included in Annex 1 to Act No. 201/2012 Coll., on air protection and in the Ministry of Environment Decree No. 330/2012. These substances are sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, dust particles of the fractions PM10 and PM2,5 , lead, arsenic, cadmium, nickel, benzo(a)pyrene, tropospheric ozone, including measurements of primary climatic conditions - temperature, wind speed, humidity, etc. Mapping will be carried out to determine the predominant type of pollution, including pollutant concentrations, and to identify the source of this pollution. Subsequently, a plan with proposals for relevant measures to reduce the identified type of air pollution or to mitigate its effects will be prepared, called the Brno Air Quality Improvement Action Plan (from now on referred to as the Brno Air Quality Improvement Action Plan).
The following are additional expert documents produced in the framework of the project:
This overview text addresses the issue of improving air quality in urbanised environments around schools, with a focus on children's exposure to air pollution. It includes selected findings drawn from peer-reviewed articles on this issue available in databases published in recent years. The aim is to identify good practices and to summarise the results of studies on the determinants of air pollution and mitigation measures.
